Basic rules:
These sports purposefully don't use the backhoe in the way it was intended.

Backhoe golf:
80 pound vaguely round rock. You have to use the backhoe to movie it 200 yards across a field (using the side of the bucket probably), then putt the rock into a hole.(using the back of the bucket?)

Backhoe fling:
40 pound rock. The rock starts in the bucket. How far can you fling it in any direction.

Tractor twister:
How long does it take to turn your tractor a full 360 using only the backhoe.

Tractor crawl:
Go 400 yards using only the backhoe.

Beer tipper:
Knock a bottle off a three foot stump and catch it in the bucket before the bottle hits the ground. Broken bottles are a disqualification.

The Lottery:
Scratch the wax off a lottery ticket that's been glued to a hard surface without ripping the card it's printed on. Sharpened bucket teeth allowed.

Any others?

Cliff,
First of all, before I get too excited, I'd like to know if there will be different size classes for competition? Will there be regional competition before nationals and internationals? Where will the competition be held? (Personally I would suggest Henro's back yard..... No.... wait a minute..... That would give him a home court advantage!)

Since I have been practicing the events listed above and am getting quite proficient in all, I would love to compete. (Especially the beer tipper..... I think I have that perfected.)

Keep us posted!

might I suggest the beer be set on the ground and then you have to lift it up not spilling it and take a drink!? /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I'm pretty good at picking up dog poop with the backhoe and not scuffing the turf...

Now that's a novel use for a BH. We could hold the competition in my yard for that one. Plenty of samples. But part of the competition would have to be reaching over the fence and carefully placing the poop behind my neighbor's bushes without touching anything.
