I'm shopping for a standard to medium duty 6' rotary cutter. I'm looking at the more affordable options. The problem is, is that it is very hard to get an idea of what costs what. I know I can get on the phone and call regional dealers but I'd like to save a little time by knowing what's in the ballpark. And for some reason the internet has very little price info. Tractor Supply and Northern Tool have prices on a limited number of models from KK and Howse but that's all I can find.

Anyone have any links to internet prices for the various name brands? Thanks.

Thanks. That helps. Couldn't find much more than that in terms of pricing though. So I've made some phone calls. This is what I've found locally:

Bush Hog Squealer SQ720 72" is $1300 w/slipper
Land Pride RCR18 72" is $1300 ?w/slipper
Woods 72" (? model #) $1400
King Kutter 72" approx $750 no slipper
JD LX6 72" $1390 w/slipper
JD LX6 72" used/like new w/chains and slipper $950

That's all I can find locally. Northern Tool has Howse but none in stock and no one there who knows anything about them.

Are the Land Pride and the Bush Hog Squealer the same unit? They cost the same at the same dealership and appear to be identical in construction in pictures I've seen. The specs seem to be the same as well.

They have both in stock and I'm leaning towards one of them. At the same price which would you get? I like the construction of these units.

I'm going to look at the used JD. I'm assuming it is comparable to the above units. Plus, it already has chains, which I like.

I'm drawn by the economic appeal of the KK but even the units on the lot at TSC are already looking rusty.

The Woods looks like a good unit but I can't see it being $100 better than the BH or LP.

The BH and LP look more substantial than the JD but the specs are similar. Can anyone think of any reason not to get the JD? The salesman assured me that their parts and service were the best around.

I just wanted to add this.
The price may look cheaper on the internet, but don't forget about shipping charges. Something large like a mower will be shipped by truck. Your savings might dissapear in the freight charges.

Thanks, that is very true. I think TSC covers the shipping if you buy from them. I mainly just wanted to get ballpark figures to see what I can afford. The JD web site has pricing but the prices are much higher than actual 'street' prices.

It seems odd to me that it is so hard to find prices for these thngs on the internet.
