Interstates Dallas to Nashville

Driving from Dallas area to Nashville next week. Anyone been I-30 Dallas to Little Rock and I-40 Little Rock to Nashville lately? Been a number of years since I was that way, but the construction was really bad then, especially thru Ark. Any better now? Or just more of the same?

Yep! Lots of construction on I-30 and I-40 in Arkansas. I just got back from a trip to California and there was construction in Arkansas, Oklahoma,Texas, New Mexico,Arizona and California. The interstate systems are all getting major overhalls and they need it!. I didn't have any delays just lower speed limits and one lane traffic in the work zones. Had a big detour at Weber Falls OK. Where the barge tore out the bridge on the Arkansas River.

I've been on I-40 through Ark several times the last couple of years and the construction is TERRIBLE!

If you can avoid Arkansas do it. Last time coming back from California to WV we took I20 and then came up through Birmingham and Chattanooga (I84, I think).

My in-laws just came across and took I40 to Oklahoma then went up north and then east through Louisville (can't remember the interstates) - all to avoid Arkansas!

I took that route last year coming back from Dallas. I remember some construction in Arkansas ... but what I remember most is the absolutely atrocious condition of the highway outside of the constuction areas. I have NEVER seen such wash-boarded road .. even on the gravel roads I used to live on. Tennessee was fine, Texas was fine ... but I'm surprised my motorhome made it through Clinton-land with all the patrs intact (my teeth didn't feel intect!)
It's not a route I plan to take again!
