MF gc2410
Hello all, this is my first post besides responding to a couple others. So I would like to say hello and introduce myself. I have been a tractor lover my whole life and have had many machines, 3 john deere 318's and 1 john deere 314, all with various implements and such. Recently my last 318 had a homemade minute mount loader on it, 49 snowblow, 46 mower, York rake, 8 suitcase weight bracket on the rear (stock is six I needed to hole two more so I modified it), 8 suitcase weights, wheel weights and a 54" jd plow. Over the past 2 years or so I really wanted to do some side jobs and some personal jobs around that needed a tad bit bigger machine with a backhoe. Over the past month I purchase a new home that will be needing some work inside and out, but at the same time a score came up on a gc2410, the timing was not great but the lady to the side of me said do it and was supportive. I knew what I could get selling the JD318, which made my decision much easier. So I purchase the gc2410 and sold the jd318 with all the accessories except the jd 54" plow which I will adapt to the front of the massey. The previous owner didn't believe in grease so the tractor needs to be greased bad. Even the hydro pedals are sticking due to lack of grease. Everything is tight and I'm really excited with the machine and to get some time on it and working on it once the house get situated.

A few things or questions:

1. there is a control valve on the floor that increases or decrease the rate of drop for the 3-point hitch, the previous owner must have hit it many times with his foot because it broke the threaded rod. The threaded rod broke off right at the end of the shaft that is connected to the knob you turn. So is there enough room to possibly get this threaded rod out of the valve or is the no change and a new valve is needed? Also do have have to take the fender pan off?

2. I have found that I have no dash lights...everything works great on the dash and everywhere else but the are no dash lights. fuses are perfect and I have changes them out, or tried other ones. Bulbs are all fine too.

3. do any of you guys with gc series tractors have a 3 position light switch? Mine has off/on/off....but there are only two symbols. I don't get the reason for the second off. thoughts and does your light switch have two positions or 3?

Thanks soo much and I look forward to chatting more with ya!

:welcome: from FL. Sorry, I wish I could help, but know nothing about MF's and very little about working on tractors in general. I would suggest a service manual. Dash lights could be burned out bulbs, and the broken valve handle could be twisted off from over adjustment on a bad valve. I know adjusting my old JD790 did nothing. But I am not looking at it and I am no mechanic.

bulbs and fuses are all good...which would only lead to a bad ground or board or something I'm not seeing....I think?

Welcome mavrik1,

I own the newer gc1715 version . . So we have similarities in many things but your switch issue is different than mine.

Do you know if the previous owner left the machine outside often? Grease/sticking situations can be created by heat/rain issues too. How many hours on the unit?

Again . . welcome. Massey acceptance and awareness has improved greatly in my state (wi) just in the last 2 years . . but they've been making good scuts for much longer than that but "hiding them" from us. Now many Kubota deslers are slso selling Massey too.

thanks axlehub....the machine has 200 hours on it, it was outside some and inside some..yeah I have to definitely hit up the grease with this machine...the switch I worry is bad and just got slammed or something. Maybe it is why the dash lights are not working....

Mavrik1 - Welcome to TBN. We hope you can find the information you need.

I'm currently working on changing over my JD 54" snow blade so I can run it on my Massey Ferguson GC1715. I can give you some pointers if you like. I have converted the front end mounting bracket from JD 318 to fit on my GC1715. I have now ordered the hoses, fittings and connectors to finish up my project.

No, I'm not done just yet. The proof of the pudding is making all this stuff work in conjunction with each other. So far, it is working out well.

Give me a bit of time, and we can talk about your conversion.

Good luck with your GC2410. I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

Mavrik1, here's the quick connects you'll need: John Deere 300 312 314 316 317 318 322 330 332 400 420 425 430 Quick Couplers | eBay

I used one of my hoses from my JD 54" blade and plugged it into one of my GC1715's female connector. It was a great fit. This is the lowest price I've seen. I checked with my JD dealer, and they were $40.00 higher and didn't include the plugs.

thanks much for the response....the problem is john deere uses a pioneer style quick connect with a ball seat... the massey uses the same thing but the quick connect the use is the poppet style which is a high flow quick connect. Pioneer and safeway s41-2 are the john deere ones....the s41 is the high flow version of the john deere ones....just an fyi

thanks again....let keep each other updated on the progress :}

You need to replace the little slow return valve assy that has the broken off threaded rod - unless you are a contortionist it is easier just the take the sheet metal off. Dash lights are possibly a loose ground or bad switch - use a multimeter to see if you have power goint to the bulbs. As long as the sahpe of the male and female ends on the hydraulic couplers are compatible poppet style and ball style couplers will usually work together but they tend to leak a little if you do that. Better to use either both poppet type or both ball type.
