Yes I'm going to replace the valve for the rate of lower control or rise control, everything I've read it is a nightmare to get that sheet metal off. The headlight switch I'm going to replace and start there

thanks much for the response....the problem is john deere uses a pioneer style quick connect with a ball seat... the massey uses the same thing but the quick connect the use is the poppet style which is a high flow quick connect. Pioneer and safeway s41-2 are the john deere ones....the s41 is the high flow version of the john deere ones....just an fyi

thanks again....let keep each other updated on the progress :}

Ah, I see what you're getting at. What would the manufacturer's name(s) be for the poppet style? I'm ok with what I ordered, I will just need 4 more male ends to finish mine up.

My new hydraulic hoses are ordered and on the way. It shouldn't be much longer before I can put this project to bed.

the quick connect itself is a AG style, the original equipment is a Holmbury DIN series quick connect, which is the same as most AG (agriculture) style quick connect that many manufacturers use not. They are compatible with the Pioneer AG style quick connects and the Safeway S41 series quick connect. The Massey uses the poppet valve because it is a high flow, the ball valve style the JD uses on the older machines is not such a high flow but I'm sure with this application it will be fine. As for leaking, as long as the seats are in good shape I don't see any reason they would not seal completely. The poppet style you can get many places, for about 9 bucks and up.

Mavrik1, I didn't see the ball style I ordered until just now. I wear bifocals and those stupid things get the better of me every time I turn around. Plus, I do have the poppet style Pioneer/JD connectors already on my 54" scrape blade. I'm sure I confused all of this together.

I think I can swap some ends around from the new hydraulic lines and match the female connectors to the male ends from the scrape blade by changing what is on the scrape blade to the ball type.

This will still give me 4 poppet style that will go into the Massey Ferguson's female couplers.

Thanks for alerting me to this. I'm sure I would have been scratching my head about why, why, why, why?

Windcatcher....I would not stress it....the connector will still work but the plow connectors with the ball ends will not be high flow. Which is really not needed for that jd plow. Where did you get the poppet style connectors from...Massey wants 40-50 a piece for those things...forget about that!

I have dealt with them before...look at McMaster or such, by the way local hydraulic places that make hoses usually have the AG style quick connect at the same or lower price than that...will keep you informed of my progress...thanks

There are a few local places, but I'm having a time finding them. The closest "city" to me is about 7 miles down the road. Population 2,351 as of 2013. So, you can see choices can be slim at best.

My JD connectors did come in the mail yesterday. They are the ball type and I was able to put the male ends into the female ends with what felt and sounded like a good seal. I'll probably match those ends up for my project and move the other poppet ends to the other ends of the hydraulic lines to mate with my Massey Ferguson's female connectors.

Where there's a will there is a way. Or something like that.

Yeah, I like McMasters a lot too. They've been able to help me quite a few times.

I now have my quick connect ends, the fittings and the hydraulic hoses. I ordered my hoses from SurplusCenter located in Nebraska. They are 5800 psi, whereas the factory Massey Ferguson hoses are 3040 psi. Double wire insides too IIRC.

I'm now waiting for the hydraulic paste to come in and I'll get started putting all the hydraulic hoses together. They are together right now, but not sealed and tightened up.

I should have enough time to finish this project up and do a pre-test long before we have any snow. Mavrik1, how are you doing on your end now?
