Intro and need some pointers here for Yanmar 1300

Sure not professing to be an expert on fluid but here is a couple of informations on automatic transmission fluid. Yanmar Tractor Support Message Board • View topic - Fluid Types ** Read First ** AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID (ATF) I know from reading these forums there are people who use the automatic transmission fluid as it seems to perform a little better in cold climate, however, I think the correct automatic transmission fluid would be important.

made some progress here and got 9 qts of type f atf and flushed the transmission. this flush came out like a strawberry smoothie and the subsequent flush was also like a smoothie. am i missing another drain plug besides the yellow one opposite the screen? the hydraulics work now and the box raised and lowered nice and smooth. the plastic fuel filter bowl was cracked so i just pulled it off and cleaned it really well abd then scraped on either side of the crack to get to clean plastic, then quickly ran a flame over the area to oxidize it and then used a small square of 6oz fiberglass with some gflex epoxy and it works great. also painted the exhaust flat black with 500f engine enamel. i am really looking forward to dragging that box around tomorrow so i need to get a bit more valvoline 710.

I too had the smoothie stuff coming pun of mine when I drained it. I only had one drain plug and then the triangular screen cover but to help I elevated the front of the tractor and then the rear giving time for all that junk to bleed out and rinsing with diesel. I have put a few hours on my 1700 since and fluid still looks new but I will probably flush again in near future.
