Mahindra 2615 HST
Hello everyone,

My name is Matt and I live in the Sierra foothills of Nothern CA; hence the alias HangtownMatt (those of you familiar with the area can probably guess where I'm at). Anyway, I just picked up a used 2615 from a private party with only 31 hours. It came with an FEL, 48" Howse box blade and 48" Howse rotary cutter. I'm happy. The guy threw in some tools, a chain, a receiver w/ball for my truck, a triangular hitch thingie for the 3 pt. tractor hitch /w 3 balls. the manuals, and a custom, newly built trailer that he originally bought for his snow mobiles. He was getting married, moving, and had too many toys. Too bad he didn't throw in his Lotus!

Here's my question. I want to change the motor oil. I went to my local Mahindra dealer to get what I thought would be an over priced Mahindra filter. Instead he handed me an overpriced CarQuest (pt# 85356) filter. Is this right? Is anyone else using this filter?

From what I hear on this board some use OEM filters while others use different brands. Your dealer shouldn't charge you OEM price for a Carquest filter but could legitimately charge Carquest list. On the plus side, you now know the part number for your next oil change.

Fredex,

You're right ... and all the cross references too boot! I did a little searching after my post and can see this topic has been beaten to death before. That might explain the 57 views and only 1 reply ;<\

For the record. Before I bought this used Mahindra I fully intended to buy a new one from this dealership. At the time I was ready to buy they were competely sold out. They wanted to move some of their other inventory on hand before they ordered more Mahindra's. Not once did they try to push me off to one of the other brands on the lot. They really think very highly of Mahindra as a company and really like those 15 series tractors. They carried the same line-up when they were Cub Cadets. Unfortunately for them this great deal just fell into my lap. But when I returned for parts and shared my story they still treated me great. I was just thrown off by the CarQuest thing and thought I'd ask.

Hello,

Congratulations on your Mahindra.

If you like yours as half as much as I like mine, you'll love it......

I use the Carquest 85775 oil filter for my 97' Mahindra 485 D.I.................I cannot tell the difference from the Donaldson OEM filter..............I use both filters..........Usually whatever I got on hand because I try to keep extra filters. (air, oil, and fuel) (I have no replacable hydraulic filter. Its just a couple of suction screens that can be cleaned.)

Good Luck my friend,

Travis R

Today I replaced what I thought would have been the OEM filter since the tractor only has 30 hrs on it. I was suprised to find it was a Dongwoo (whatever that is) and made in Korea. Could this actuall be the original filter? Anyway, the CarQuest actually looked to be the better filter in that it was a good 1/2" longer.

I've got another question. The first time I pulled the covers after getting the tractor home I noticed the radiator reservior was low. I topped it off. I ran the tractor around the property a bit before pulling into the garage for an oil change. I noticed the reservior was empty again. I filled it and took another joy ride after the oil change. And just now, when I went out to the garage to get the company name off that oil filter I noticed it is once again on the low side. There doesn't appear to be a leak and the oil did not show signs of water contamination. Where could it be going? The radiator appears full.

I ran it yesterday for a good 5 hours and it didn't use any water. Yee Haw!
