KAMA 354C
Hello everybody!

I would like to introduce myself after lurking in the background for several months. My name is Tim and I acquired the name MrFixit long ago because I "attempt" to fix things even though I have no idea how they work. Near 99% success rate. The other 1% was fixed by a hammer.

I never sat in a tractor seat and never saw under the hood of a diesel. If all goes well, the dealer will deliver my KAMA 354C next week. So no doubt I will have a lot of questions like "What does this lever do?" Hopefully my neighbors won't be watching as I stuff it in the wrong gear and run something valuable over, like my house.

I want to thank everybody for all their help in assisting me with the decision to purchase a Chinese Tractor. Talk more soon.

Tim

Welcome MrFixit

You've come to the right place. If your dealer hasn't changed all the fuilds, do that first. Also, you should drain the fuel tank and clean. If not, you could be changing injectors. I have the KAMA 445 and have been very happy.

Hello Mr Fixit,
A name like that is definitely welcome here!

Echoing Patrick here, definitely change your fluids if the dealer hasn't. After 10 hours, I would change them again and then again at 50 hours. The dealer changed all my fluids and then I did it again at 10 hours - the crankcase oil was almost like sludge. Front axle, tranny & rear axles looked decent at 10 hours.

Enjoy your new ride.

Hi Eddie and Patrick!

Thanks for the warm welcome and advice on fluids. Even if the dealer "Says" he changed the fuids I plan on doing it anyway upon delivery. Any suggestions on Brands/Types and quantities would be appreciated.

Welcome to Tractorbynet. And you sound much like me; succeed most of the time, but not always. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif This reminds me of when we had a divorcee living two doors from us. She quite frequently called on the guy who lived between us to help with various problems or chores, but one day she called me to ask if I might be able to fix her broken washing machine. It was a Gibson, which I'd never heard of at the time, but I found a broken support plate under the tub, hoped I could find a new one, but thought I might be able to weld the broken one if I had to. I not only found the new one, but it was much cheaper than I expected. Then I called the guy next door and told him I thought I could do the job alone, but an extra pair of hands might be handy, and of course he agreed to help. Then I said, "I'm surprised she called me instead of calling you like she usually does." And he said, "Oh, she called me and I told her I didn't know anything about washing machines. Call Bird; he'll try anything." /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Welcome Tim,

You definitely seem to have the right attitude.

But since this is a Brand New Learning Adventure for you, please take some time to study about the dangers and how to use your tractor safely. Ask your dealer to point out the danger points and how to use your tractor safely. Also if you have a neighbor that is a farmer or a long time tractor owner, then they would most likely be happy to go over the danger Zones and how to safely use your tractor.

If you do your Preping of the systems correctly: cooling, transmission, creeper, front drive, lubrication, Hydraulics, fuel pump, fuel system, and air intake system. There may not be a lot for "Mr Fixit", to Fix.

But when it does come down to a fix, Please post your procedures and the tools that you use. Doing this is very informative for the rest of us, in trying to keep our tractors running well too.

Make it a wonderful adventure Tim. Your tractor is a very powerful, versatile, tool, and will be able to do a lot of different tasks for you, and will make, getting the jobs done outside, so much easier.

When it comes down to the Hammer tool though, take some very deep breaths, before using it. As once used, that part may need to be replaced, rather than being adjusted or repaired.

Again Welcome Tim, and enjoy your new Tractor, I know that you are very excited about getting your new Tractor. I know that I was, when I got mine. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Have a nice day,
Joe /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
