Well I finally got around to using my "Mr Funnel" for the first time. I ran 5 gals of fuel threw it and look what I found. Is it possible this is all water or since it is winter did I pull out some of the anit-geling added to it? If this is all water no wonder it smokes so bad at start up.

I recollect reading a post that recommended putting diesel anti-gel directly into the tractors fuel tank and not into the diesel storage can when using the Mr. Funnel. I don't remember the exact technical explanation why......

.......I did a search on Mr. Funnel and found a post by Kiotijohn:

<font color="blue"> There is always some water, but I treat the tractor tank with Power Service AFTER filling, because if you put the PS in first, it emulsifies the water molecules and the Mr. Funnel won't filter it out. John

Yes I saw that too. But I didn't put anything into the fuel so did the local convience store do it and if so should I dump this stuff back into the tank of the tractor to mix with what it was originally mixed for?

Murph, I can't really tell from the pictures, although they look like great photography, but in the pictures, it just looks like diesel fuel to me. You do know, don't you, that the design of the funnel leaves a little bit of whatever you're pouring through it in the bottom, whether there's anything wrong with it or not.

Bird,

It does have a tint to it like it could be diesel fuel. I have re-ran it back through the funnel three times and none of that will go through. Not even one drop? The thing I am worried about is if that is all anti-geling I could be in trouble if I leave or am working outside for a long time.

There will always be some liquid left in the Mr Funnel after fueling your tractor. Sometimes it will contain water, sometimes not. What I do is simply recycle the cup or so of liquid that remains in the funnel unless there is visible water.

The blue/green filter requires a certain head pressure in order to operate. When the funnel is almost empty there is insufficient head pressure to flow anything thru the filter. Conversely, too much head pressure will cause water to flow thru the filter.

So either dump it out and put back into the storage can?

Yep. You an always throw it away or you can save it in a small bottle and wait for any water to settle and then drain off the diesel on top. At about $2 per gallon a couple of cups per 5 gallons will add up quickly if you use a lot of fuel.

Yeah...I just tried mine about a week ago & had similar results. Was not sure what to do the first time so dumped it in a container. When I did that, the colour still looked like diesel & when I smelled it of couse was DIESEL. So the next fill I just dumped it back in my fuel container. If it is water, should filter out next time.
