Well those calves are still running loose. I hear he may put a bounty on them soon. If thats the case, the neighbor will probably put a slug in em.

On the other hand, we figured we could get more for em alive since they aren't really ready for slaughter. My wife has put out a flake or two of hay and they have eaten it. I'm wondering if there's any way to pen em in our pasture. We've got horses but we don't rope. I got a border collie but she doesn't herd. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif Dang, we might as well be city folk /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

I bet your boarder collie does heard if given the chance. The trick would be getting it to bring em to ya instead of chasing them away.....
I would just keep putting hay out but a little closer in each time.. I would build a temp corral. (round pen panels or all wire cattle panels and tee post. I would work my way with hay to inside the corral. Then just close it in on them. Or you design a trap gate if needed..........Cattle think with their stomachs so it should not be hard to catch them..... If they are little wild it may be harder but still not hard......

Well, the saga is over and our horses can quit staring through the woods finally. The owner came out this morning and "harvested" the two calves. They were a longhorn cross evidently and only about 6 months old. I'll bet they'll be tender.
