Invasive Weed Invades

It's not that congon grass, is it? Hate all this invasive non native mess! Snakes, bugs, weeds, carp (yep, them too ain't native), on and on...

They say that congon grass is horrible to get rid of and not worth anything. I have never seen it, other than pictures. I think some counties here already has it.

I checked out some info on congongrass and it appears to be only in the south. Actually, its not all that bad looking. Wonder how it looks if kept mowed. In any case, I'm still hoping someone can identify what's in my picture here.

Are you sure that is not Japanese silt grass ? Hard to tell from picture. If so I would love to hear about what other people have done. I have 2 properties and this stuff has exploded in the last year. Probably caused by me hauling tractors back and forth. Once you know what to look for the it is everywhere beside the road. Research on NC State Turfiles got me started on Acclaim Extra it is very effective but expensive, $ 80.00 per pint or almost $ 400.00 per gallon. I am in central NC and would like to hear others thoughts.

I think you've nailed it. I typed it into Google Images and that's exactly what it looks like. Althought they call it Stiltgrass. But you are right, its everywhere.

It looks like Stiltgrass to me too but I don't remember what the flowers look like. That scat is all over my place. It started here and there and now is almost everywhere.

Last year I was out on public lands working on a photography project and I was shocked at how many areas where covered in Stiltgrass. One area was along a river so I could see how the weed got there but another place had been part of a controlled burn and out in the middle of no where yet Stiltgrass was covering the grounds in acres and acres of woods.

I don't think we will be getting rid of Stiltgrass....

I never thought about it before, but the deer don't eat the Stiltgrass I have seen. Danged pests eat everything else but not Stiltgrass... Interesting.
