Tractor
iron horse IHT 284
I bot the tractor 2004, used it to ploud snow in my back yard in the winter and sometimes in summer to move fire wood.
Tractor IHT 284 starts fine. I HAVE THIS SCREETCHING SOUND, it may come from the clutch, it comes when I press on the clutch, and it comes and goes. Sound stops when I let go on the clutch. Help with diagnose please!

Hi
Welcome to TBN.
Sounds like your clutch thrust bearing has had it. Means you will have to split the tractor to replace if I am right. Not a hard job and you only need simple tools to complete it. But while its apart I would check you clutch plate, pressure plate, pilot bearing etc.

First, thank you so much for taking the time to reply. Fortunately have plenty of tools, what I do not have is mechanical
knowledge, but very high interest in learning. I do not have a trailer to bring the tractor to a mechanic; that means I have to do the job myself. Can you recommend a site that has a videos, like utube, etc that shows how to do this job?
or at a minimun a written detailed procedure for doing the job. Thank you again, we need more people like you.

I think your tractor is like a Jinma. I suggest you contact Affordable Tractors (Tommy is very active in these forums). If it is a Jinma he can supply you with all the parts, manuals and help you will need. If it is not a Jinma he can probably point you in the right direction to get help

SOME of these had a grease-able throw-out bearing, but it was not easy to get to & needed a needle greaser. you would have to open up the clutch covers and use a good light to look in at the bearing where the clutch fork pushes. there is a small hole in there that takes a small amount of grease on them to help them live.
