I have a berkley 2hp 3stage pump that I use to irrigate with pumping from lake. It has started cutting off after about 5 minutes run time , staying off about 15 minutes then cutting back on for 5 minutes. The motor seems unusually hot and the Id plate says the motor has thermal overload protection. I have been running it about 4 1/2 hours every other day with no problem . Can anyone offer any advice. Thanks very much.. Greg B

Check for a plugged suction / foot valve.
Has the pump ever been run dry ?
If so you will need to rebuild it.
You should not cycle it on overload, it will burn the overload switch out.

You might want to check the voltage while running,, You might only have one leg running.. You want to do this as close to the pump as possable incase your wire has a break in it somewhere,,
