Is a 3hp upgrade worth it?

There is a good looking Daedong (Kioti) T2600 in Braga with only 971 hours for €3500. Doesn't have documents though, so I don't think you're interested on that one.

It's a 25 HP machine and it's a little bit bigger than yours but I'm sure it would fit right it. Can't really find much specs about it though.

The same tractor with documents/title and license plate would bump the price up to €6000 easily.

I think that the bigger issue is trading the devil that you know for the devil that you don't. You know the reliability of your current tractor, trading for another old tractor just to get 3 more HP seems like a big risk. Unless you KNOW that the bigger tractor is just as good as the one you have, keep what you got.

That's also something a bit worrying, they're mostly the same tractor, but I know mine works 90% fine and doesn't have any issues...

To use on my property, not really, I'll try get the butt feeling on the seller's property, hopefully it'll have an uphill stretch, the guy was busy this weekend, so postponed the viewing .

I've heard many ppl say about demoing. but any private sellers I've met won't really let you run away with their tractor for a day or two, maybe if I gave him a couple hundred, plus 200$ to and fro in transport as I don't have a flat trailer or the necessary license.

Yeah, it's not a common practice to demo a tractor or any machine in Portugal or Europe for that matter. That's why we don't even consider.

Also, the price that the seller puts on whatever he is selling, is not very flexible. Usually no more than €250.

I saw an ad on Facebook the other day for an articulated Goldoni 238 with documents and license plate in Rio Maior for €3980. Looks good and in very good shape.

IIRC the OP is looking at 'geared' tractors so we could skip the 2-3hp a HST pump 'loses' and add 50 lbs or more (?) with a 'different' (hp) model. Imagining my 5-speed pedal bike compared to my 12-speed there a gear for every grade and effort but more choices or fewer range/gear shift combos might make operating more convenient if not more productive.

btw, for all we know the OP doesn't need as much 'more' as we wish he had.

Nothing to do with real or imagined HP increase!

OP just needs another 45 hp on paper. Never mind 'seat of the pants' feel. Well, if someone has plenty of hp to spare and can loan him the difference.

btw, >60hp and <20 tractors are so much alike it's really apples to apples. Sorry to suggest one can find a best gear for a task with barely enough hp and having more gears/ranged to choose from.

Well after taking note of everything I decided against this, the 100cc and kgs didn't justify the change. I was also advised parts are really hard to find for Hinomotos (I guess there's a lot less in classifieds compared to others).

As most 5k tractors in the 25hp range tend to be a bit wider (135cm~) than my liking, I've kept waiting and have spotted an antonio carraro 2700 with license for 5k which I think might be a good fit. Can't really find specs but i'll check it out soon.

Do you guys usually trade in your previous tractor or sell it separately? I judge I can easily sell mine for 4k, trading it in for the carraro the seller will discount 3k. Which means I might "lose" 1k, and the possibility to sell it and keep my current one if it tends not to be a good fit.

Yes, Hinomoto parts are very hard to find. Specially considering they went out of business some time ago. They are now getting back in business by selling TYM tractors rebadged to Hinomoto.

Your tractor has documents and license plate, so definitely try selling your tractor yourself. It's in good shape, so it shouldn't be too hard. Dealers usually take advantage on trade-ins and will try to rip you off by valuing your tractor in basically half of what it's worth.

That Antonio Carraro should be a good fit for your place.

Trade only if you absolutely can't afford to float the money while trying to sell, especially if you think you can sell it without too much effort.
