My wife had a donkey that was castrated late. She had him to protect her goats, but he has a mean streak and actually attacked her goats. He had to be kept in a separate pen from the goats or he would kill them. All he does is eat, poop, and make obnoxious noises. . . pretty darn worthless!

We sold the property where he is and let the new owner have him. The new buyer thought he would turn him in with his goats. When he did, that worthless donkey went straight for the largest goat and grabbed him by the neck. He started slinging him around before the guy could run off the donkey. If that donkey had belonged to me, he'd have been soap a long time ago.:rolleyes:

I have a mule that is much the same way.. eats.. poops and bray-neighs alot..

depends on what you want castration to accomplish: if your looking to alter their attitudes, it doesn't work with male donkeys: once they have been used for breeding and several years old, they don't seem to know anything has changed. this is from my first hand experience.
