You probably have summer rain to keep everything fresh and it probably looks prettier there this time of year. Here it doesn't rain roughly Easter to Thanksgiving so we start off green. But by late summer everything is brown and it has to be disced or mowed to keep down the fire danger.

That photo above is looking down into the ravine at the back corner of the cultivated land. Its all impassable steep blackberry jungle, big oaks, and eucalyptus, beyond that fence.

Here are some photos I've posted here in the past. Green in winter and spring, dry later. Nearly all my neighbors have converted to grapes over the last few years. I won't, this is a retirement hobby farm (orchard) for me and I like it the way it is.

Looks like a nice place. I really like that first pic.

Nice pics, We have some places that look a little like where you are, and you are right about rain here, but this year we had a dry spell all through most of Aug, and Sept. We are starting to get back to the green look now. I think a big difference is that you have mountains almost to the ocean. We are about 250 to 300 miles inland to the mountains

...We are wondering about one of our members on this forum though. Hope he checks in soon!
Has anyone heard anything from Norm? Maybe Aaron (Hoye) could look him up in customer records then search to see if he has appeared on Facebook or something?

Another missing and very valuable member is Soundguy, one of two founders of this group in about 2002. He moved on from Yanmars, to later and larger tractors. Recently I've seen mention in other threads that he hasn't logged into TBN for a while.

Soundguy's co-founder of this group, Inspector507, passed away a few months ago, per a friend on another forum. Inspector507 offered to look after my daughter when she bicycled from Oregon to NYC and encountered a unique experience as she passed through his vicinity. She arrived at an organic farm co-op - and found a co-owner had just died so she was designated as farm manager the day she arrived. Jerry saw my post about that and offered look out for her. She did ok so didn't need help, but his generous offer was reassuring and was greatly appreciated.

Both of these group founders were extremely helpful to me when I first arrived here with the YM240 that needed a lot of minor renovation before it was fit to put back in use. I asked all the newbie questions then, and now feel a responsibility to pass on the help and encouragement that I received back then from those two, and from several others over the years.

Winston is today's equivalent to those pioneers, always ready with precise information even after he no longer owns a Yanmar. Clemsonfor and other experienced owners keep up the high quality of advice that has always existed here. This is a fortunate group.

Aaron already must know his FB , because he said that he was quiet on FB for a similar time that he has been on here.

And I don't frequent the other sections of this forum as often as I once did, but SoundGuy is not around!!! That's definitely not like him, he posted easily a dozen times a day normally! Let's just hope he is on an extended vacation or something and didn't tell anyone for security reasons and just haven't checked in, but I bet he would be checking anytime he had signal as he was a huge part of TBN. He is a top 20 poster if not top 10 or 5 I bet!

Soundguy's profile show his last activity on June 6th, Normdes shows May 17th.

Norm would semi regularly check in, he was not a super frequent poster , like as in not daily. But he would weekly or every few weeks. Be here for a few days then maybe not back for a few weeks. That's out of character.

And for sure that's not like SoundGuy who posted every day...literally everyday. And like I said a dozen or more times a day. Maybe he missed a few days for a trip or really busy or whatever but to not check in for months , I fear the worst!!

I need to find a thread that talks about it, but surely someone knows him or has met him?

Wow, I didn't realize that. I for some reason was picturing or thinking SoundGuy was like in his 50s?

Reminds me of a line from a song. "How old would you be if you didn't know the date of your birth?"
