It looks like winter will be arriving today. It's snowing as I type this and the temperature is dropping. It should be near 10F tonight.

I imagine Pineridge will be getting about 6 inches of snow or more. How about the rest of you guys? I should get only 1 to 3, probably not enough to close the schools, but the kids will think we should.

I have my rear blade to front blade modification all done and have practiced with it smoothing the gravel. I've got about 2 years worth of dry firewood on hand, about half of it inside the woodshed. Snow tires for the vehicles are on the rims, just waiting to be put on when things get serious. The generator has been run and checked, ready for the inevitable power failure. Lots of food for people is on hand, bird seed and pet food are good for several days at least. We even have a 12 foot Fraser fir ready to bring in for Christmas when the time is right. I think all is in readiness, so come on down Mr. Winter!

Yeah, it just started here about an hour ago and parts of the ground are already covered. Lotsa school closings up towards Cleveland this morning.

They're not predicting that much for around here (I live about 2 miles southeast of PineRidge) - but ya never know .... they say 1" to 3" but it could end up being a foot if that lake effect snow machine gets going. :D

Got the woodburning furnace installed in the basement over the last few days ..... I moved four pallets of firewood up to the back door and moved the mower and TracVac into the garage yesterday. Need to get out there before it gets real bad and move some equipment into the polebarn, pull the backhoe off and stick the snowblower on.

I put BB on last week and yesterday changed oil and put chains on close to 40 in morning. Today it is below 20 and snowing. I live close to lake Michigan and we can and do get lake effect snow. Usally only 15-20 miles inland.

We're supposed to get some cold weather (10 at night) here over the next couple of days with some flurries possible and strong winds. So I feel like I'm ready for whatever. I've got some firewood (a couple of weeks worth if i'm using the woodstove constantly) and my rear blade is around somewhere even though its been years since i've used it. I'm waiting to use up most of my old firewood before I find some new.
The forecast is for moderating & above normal temperatures starting next week and continuing for a while after that for most of the country.

No snow in southern New Hampshire yet.

In fact, it just might hit 50 degrees today.:D

We are all froze up from a sleet/freezing rain storm last week. A bit of snow happening today. Tree went up Dec 1.
Ready, uhmm no.
Have not bought, or even looked much at blowers.
Wood shed needs another wall to keep the that snow the that blows off the lake out.
Tractor shed needs a bigger door.

You would consider that folks on the east coast of Canada would be ready for winter - I was not! About six inches fell the other day, wet and sticky, painting a picture postcard of a winter scene. I went and messed it up a little with my first try at plowing since getting the MF. Ran down the rather steep drive-way with the FEL in float and that was fine.

Yesterday I took off the BH and installed the rear blade. In the process the safety switch froze, and I ended up straddling the drive-way unable to put the tractor in to gear. I undid the switch at the plug, shorted the plug and got 'her' back in the workshop. Today will be mild, hoping the seat switch will un-freeze and solve that problem. If not, I will call the dealer for service tomorrow. Because it's been so mild, there is no frost in the ground. I will wait for the ground to firm-up before putting the chains on.

I guess we are finally getting there, lots more winter to come and we should have equipment sorted out by the time the big storms show up. Nice thing is, the wife is suggesting the need for a 'CAB' - bless her heart.
