Is everyone ready?

It was 47 degrees this time yesterday. At daybreak it was 34. Now it's 25 and falling like a rock. Snow has stopped (just a dusting) winds were hitting 30 mph. Snow was falling sideways. Supposed to be 16 tonight.

I'm ready!

Firewood is stocked in. Groceries are stocked up. Heat's on in the shop. We're slow at work the next 4 weeks. No need to go outside at all. Anyone interested can come by and plow any snow we might get. I've had enough of that sort of fun.

Most folks get an impression about sunny Southern California. But there are several mountain ranges that get snow. This year there has been no major snow fall to speak of, but last year was a different story.

This photo was taken last year at this time as we crossed over a small road in the Sierra Nevada's.

Here in Maryland winter doesn't arrive until December 21.

What about the major flurry event earlier this week? I think I saw 20 or 30 snow flakes in Westminster. :)

I've always wanted to try this but it doesn't get cold enough here to do it but... If you take your pressure washer outside when it's in the teens and spray it into the air will it make snow or something close.

Depends on how cold it is outside. I'm not sure you would end up with snow though. You would probably make sleet.

Less than an inch of snow today in NW Ohio. Have the rear blade on the tractor. Always have plenty of firewood, but that is how I heat my house half the time. Wind chill is pretty cold though. It was 45 yesterday but that seemed to be a freak day in a week of cold wind and light snow. I do still need an engine block heater.

I put BB on last week and yesterday changed oil and put chains on close to 40 in morning.

So, it's not just a rumour, then? The BB is good for plowing snow? Better than the FEL? Why does this just seem strange to me?

Having lived in OH, CO, WY for most of my life I understand the anticipation of the first real snow of the year and how it really does mark the change to winter.

However, I also remember the bitter cold of Jan and Feb, the late storms of March and the muds of April. That is why I look at the thermometer today and when it reads 75F I am so absolutely glad I can live vicariously through all of you guys. :D

I do miss it once in a while though, so I go to CO for a couple of days . . . just to remind me why I still live in Arizona. Then I get cold and come home.

Enjoy the winter, Boys. I will send pics from the golf course in a week or two.
