LVFross,

I had similar problems with one dealer. I knew what tractors I was interested in and he would not give me a price. He said he would mail it. Still waiting. Well he lost out on a big sale.... What a moron.

Did the sales guy want to see your land or did you ask him to take a look. Not sure why he would want to look at the place.

I would go to another dealer. I looked at price, the attitude of the staff not just the sales dude, the cleanliness of the place especially the shop, and how well I got along with the dealer. I figured if they ain't helping me when THEY are trying to get a sale what kind of help am I going to get when I have a problem?

Later,
Dan

Want poor service, just mention to a dealer that you are interested in the 790. Apparently there isn't a lot of profit in these machines for dealers and from the reactions I've seen, that seems to be true.

I was looking last spring at these tractors -- went to 6 different Deere dealers. All of them were very excited to talk to me and tried to sell me the 4310. Not ONE even mentioned the 790. I'd say things like "I'd really like a simple tractor and gears are okay". They'd all push a 4410 with reverser. None even mentioned the 790.

When I'd bring up the machine (usually saying something like -- Isn't the 790 around 30 hp like I'm looking for), they immediately lost interest in me. Oh ya. That would work. I'll fax a quote if that's what you are interested.

Also, not ONE Deere dealer ever offered to let me test drive anything. Even after I asked, they shyed away from the idea.

Regardless, I'm still tractorless. I only have around $15.5 to spend and want a loader and brushhog with that. JD 790 w/ loader, brushhog and 4wd was quoted right around there by one dealer, but he wouldn't let me test drive.

Come spring, I'm going to go out there and start looking again -- probably at different colors as I've exhausted the Deere dealers in my area. Pretty sad if you asked me as I would have purchased to anyone who was remotely kind...

Keep looking till it's right. You'll find something that will just feel good to you -- dealer and tractor!

Hi,

Thanks for all the feedback. I do appreciate it. We've been traveling for the last week so I have'nt posted my thanks.

In fact I think a 790 would have been the closest match. They had one on the floor. We think we found a better match of product and service. Time will tell.

Thanks,
Ross
