Is it me, or is it Hot?

I had a bit of a problem with my MMM about 2 weeks ago, and I sweat so much, I thought I was going to have a heat stroke. I was sick to my stomach, and light-headed.

<font color=blue> just asked her and she said she just buys the boxes of pickling spices at the grocery store and uses the recipe on the back of the boxes.</font color=blue>
I can't hate her of that, my mother was an old-fashioned cook, and canner. She showed me all about canning, but I never thought to ask for the recipes. She passed away in March. I've been trying to find her recipes for about a month. I'm guessing they were in her head. Very sharp woman, my Mom. Thanks for trying. Kent

Think you'll find one or two a/c if you go to Calgary and probably have more than one or two hot days during the summer.



Try Southeast Alaska, rain forest area and damp but no temperature extremes. Sitka or Tenacee Springs and the fishing is good to.

We have had a breeze and the temps haven't been more than 96 or 98 or so, but it does seem more humid that past years. I spent about 5 hours yesterday cutting limbs with the chainsaw and hauling off the brush on the forks. I came in at 2:30 completely drenched and exhausted, and really didn't get over it until I had a good night's sleep.

Red River, NM and Grand Lake Co. are both nice places to be in the summertime also. Which I was there.

Hmmm, temperate climate... good fishing... sounds like some place I would like to visit!

For a while it looked like my son-in-law was going to get transferred from Calgary to Alaska and my wife and I were excited by the prospect of going to visit our daughter and her family there. However, it doesn't look like that will happen/w3tcompact/icons/sad.gif Dang, we sure were counting on our next vacation being a trip to Alaska with free accomodations! I guess it is just as well that he did not transfer there... we might get to liking it up there TOO much, if you know what I mean!

Chris, I remember reading that the average summertime high temperatures in Anchorage are higher than the average summertime highs in Chicago. It was one of those interesting, counter-intuitive little tidbits that stay with you kind of like driving south from Detroit into Canada.

I am sure if we traveled far north far enough we would eventually find some of that blessed coolness associated with northern latitudes! Could be that our compass would be spinning in circles by then but hey, at least we would be cool! Then maybe we would just build ourselves and igloo and stay a while... at least until October./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Take the marine highway. The view is terrific and you don't have to drive.
If you want to climb 3000 or so feet you may be able to build the igloo or just chip out a living area in a glacier. Won't have to worry about wells or city water then.

I think cstocks is on to something. We don't just air condition, we ride around in a little bubble of refrigeration all summer long. It's quite often a good bit cooler than we like to be warmed up to in the winter.

Wife and I talked about driving up to your area for a September vacation. You ever take the Ferry over to Bar Harbor from your Province? Looks like a he11 of a drive without the Ferry.
