This may be the dumbest question of the week?..hehehe
I have a block heater on my NH- I plugged it in the other day to test to see if it was working- I'm assuming it doesn't make any noise at all because I couldn't tell if it was getting power or not. Is there a way to know if it's active?

After a few moments, I would think you would feel some heat around where it goes into the block..... /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

So would I..lol
But I didn't. it was around 35f -I was reading that the item is installed 'into' the block. so maybe thats why i couldn't feel anything. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Put an amp probe on one of the power legs.

Hmmmm.....
Did it start up any better?
Did the temperature guage read warmer more quickly than normal?
Did the lights dim when you plugged it in.... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif?
Maybe it's one of those things that work when you believe in them - like sugar pills (the placebo effect)...

On my TC18 you can definitely feel the area of the block getting warmer. Also after an extended period of time (hour?) the temp gauge will read warmer.

Follow the cord to where it is installed in the block - there is a connector there, might be loose.

As stated, feel for heat. Also, if there is no ambient noise, you can hear most block heaters about 15 seconds after powering up.
