Because pretty much EVERY CAR MANUFACTURED SINCE THE 80's HAS RUN ON 10% ETHANOL WITHOUT ISSUES....

I've been using it for 30+ years and the only problem I can attribute to it on my personal equipment is the fuel line in one chainsaw.
And since this thread is about gasoline tractors, I, too had a gasoline tractor for about 10 years. It was a late 70's IH 2500b tractor loader, 4 cylinder gas engine, HST transmission, full cab, rated at 50HP on the PTO.

It was a fine, powerful machine, but it drank lots of fuel. Never had any fuel problems with it that I could attest to 10% ethanol.
My current machine is also gasoline, but its only a Kohler 25HP gas engine, like a lawn tractor engine, not like a tractor engine. It burns a little over a gallon per hour. No fuel problems in 15 years.

My Dixie chopper can't hang with my diesel mower in fuel consumption or power. The rated HP is identical and the actual power output isn't much different, but the diesel smokes it in fuel economy. The gas burns about 1.5 gallons per hour and the diesel burns about 1/2 gallon per hour. Diesel is about 2.20 here and ethanol free gas is about 2.60.

The ethanol fuel causes huge problems with most low use engines due to phase separation. The water rusts out fuel tanks, corrodes carbs and fuel pumps, sometimes so badly they are not rebuildable.
