I took mine off over a month ago. Anymore snow that we get can be moved with the FEL or just wait for it to melt.

No matter when you take it off, it will always snow the next day. Two or three years ago, we had measureable snowfall on May 20! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

I threw caution to the wind and took mine off last weekend. Parts of me were thinking "this might not be such a good idea." At any rate, its off and stored in the she until next year.

/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif Only if you dont mind hooking it up in 5' of snow. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif For the first several yrs I jumped the gun (hey...I was ready for spring) and got my winter gear put away by early April. Now I keep it handy until the beginning of May.

Yeah, I remember over 12" of heavy wet snow on I think May 12 a few years back. Because it was so warm the snow had a huge water content and that time I didn't have a tractor handy....

NY Yankees Fan,
It is a tough call that I am trying to make as I write this. We have had 14 inches of snow in the last 8 days, but it is 50 today, all the snow has melted, and the weather predictions are nothing below freezing for the next week. On the other hand, if I use past history as a model, I have to remember the 6 inches of heavy snow we had on Mother's Day in 1996. I think I will compromise (I should say procrastinate) and remove the chains, clean and preserve them and service the blower today, then pull the blower and reinstall the FEL tomorrow. Rationale being that Deerlope is probably correct: any snow we get in the future will either melt quickly or will be within the capability of the FEL.

I take mine off when I start maple syrup - basically when the forecast is for a week of temperatures over freezing - so I can pull my tanks about.

But - I leave my snowblower close at hand, rather than putting it away out back. I recall 30" of snow one March, and I had to blow a path 100' from my neighbours garage to shed, so he could get to his snowblower that he had taken off the week before.

Usually it sits there until May when I get around to putting it away for good

Oh common, leave it on and be prepared for next winter ehh. Nothin like preparing ahead of time.
