I'm new here and wondering if it's worth it or not. Should I build one or just modify my lawn tractor? Saw this Struck Dozer. Any one have one? Look impressive for around $5K.

there is many discussions on building a small dozer and even some on struck. Only you can decide if it's worth it. Personally building something is rewarding in more ways then just $$ value. At the same time if the price of building something is to far out of the budget then it more then likely won't be done. You have to figure what your costs will be. How much can you afford? Is there a ready supply of scrap that can cut down on cost? What are your mechanical skills? Will you have the tools needed to do the job? Will you have a decent place to do the work? How much machining will need to be done? Hydraulic, mechanical or combo operations? What type of powersource will be used?

The answer to "Is it worth it?" depends on the worth of things to you.

Money wise, it's seldom worth it to build something like this from scratch. Materials costs and time costs add up fast. It will always take longer and cost more than you think.

However, if the joy of creating and the satisfaction of a job well done have worth to you then it is absolutely worth it.

Here's the question... Do you want to have a mini dozer or do you want to build a mini dozer? Those are two different things.

P.S. Welcome to TBN.

I have one of the Struck dozers, an M-1800. 16 HP and 4 speed transmission.

You can take a garden tractor and add tracks and have a modified tractor.

You can purchased a used Struck dozer and modify it if you want.

You can purchase a new hyd powered Struck dozer.

You can build one from scratch, but you have to know how much HP needed to operate it, whether to use chain drive or full hyd motors.

I looked at a pic of your Magnatrac - am I right about it having self leveling front end loader bucket?

There was a Struck dozer on a local craigslist a couple weeks ago for $2500. That looked like a decent price, but having never followed them, I wouldn't really know for sure.
