We have a 5525 that sometimes will not go forward/reverse without clutch when I am operating (150 lb). When a 115 lb operator is using it it never works without the clutch, and when a 200 lb operator is using it always works. It can be in gear, engaged in forward or reverse, but there will be a neutral indicator flashing on the dash. Any ideas? Any workarounds? This is with or without the seatbelt by the way. Thanks, Chad.

Edit - All the owners manual says is that this light flashes when the 5525 is not in gear. It also says to cycle the clutch once on startup to disengage something?

I'd sure like to hear an answer on this one. I have a 5225 with a 12/12 Powereverser that just lately has become a litlle balky on shifthing between forward and reverse. If I use the clutch I have no problems, if I just move the lever, I sometimes end up in nuetral with the "N" light on the dash. It never occured to me that there might be a weight sensor in the seat. I'd sure like to hear that it is something like that and not a mechanical problem.

I think we figured it out. The dealer confirmed that the blinking neutral was due to no operator presence. The 5525 has a safety feature that will let you operate with the clutch when standing up for sightline etc., but will not let you operatre without the clutch unless in the seat. I guess that is so you can't hit the lever on the way off the machine. The seat tension was too high for my weight, and did not recognize that I was their half of the time. By lessening the tension (black vertical knob behind the seat) it now knows that I am still in the seat! It also gives a nicer ride. I hope yours is the same. The only way to nail down your code for sure is to plug in a laptop.

Glad to hear you have a solution, thanks for the info. I'll try that.

I spent a couple hours on the machine since I dialed the seat tension back, and have had no issues. The dealer also said that the machine will default to neutral if the RPMs are too low. I'm not sure if I've triggered this or not; I tend to run low for light duty work to keep the volume down. There is a symbol on the tach with an "e" by it somewhere around 1500 rpms...I believe that is the minimum working setting but I've been below it plenty of times.

The "e" is for 540e and is at 1700rpm. There is no 'minimum working setting' for 5X25s as far as I know...
