John Deere 870 and Gator XUV
Does anyone know if John Deere is having an issue manufacturing the Gator XUV? Mine has been on order for over 6 weeks now with no sign of coming in any time soon. My dealer said John Deere is backed up due to the Xmas holiday and that is why it is taking so long. Just wondering if anyone else is seeing this problem, or is it just our area that is having trouble. I see none of the local dealers have any Gators on the lot anymore either.
Thanks.

I imagine they are backed up around this time of the year. I remember my 6x4 took a long time to get here a few years back around this time.

they kinda sit on the lots down here it looks like knowbody wnats them right now. the dealers kinda don't wanna work no deals the guys in houma want over 10k for a stripped xuv with no dump bed and the guys in thib, want over 10k for a xuv with a dump bed and a few hours on it. they just ain't selling for the same price everyone if going for the rangers there is a place called accessory world and they are selling them with a top glass windshield power dump bed and winch for the same price and for a few hundred more you get the doors. so for a good deal on a deere down here you gotta go out of town and they just ain't doing it they goin for the other utv's. maybe they can get afew from the guys down here .lol

The economy might not be helping things either.

People keep saying that, but the tractor and equipnment industry is doing very well right now. Nationaly sales are up over last year. I think about of our problems are just the media and the poloticians telling us its bad, and the herd is following... thus the dip we saw on the stock market yesterday. Real company values don't change that fast.

Not sure Gators fall into the ag space as much. I see many 100+hp new tractors selling. Also, John Deere has a lot of competition in the space. Polaris, Kawasaki, Kubota, etc.

I think JD is really falling behind by not having more seating as an option. Also, no belt enclosure on the diesel XUV seems dumb.

Kawasaki has electric steering on the 2008 3010 Trans - going to have to look at it. Looks like street price is around $8500 for a trans 4*4 with electric steering standard. For running around the ranch here with a couple kids and some feed - it might be the best bang for the buck.

I don't want to talk bad about the gator and I am sure most folks are enjoying theirs.
We had leased a couple for a construction site for the surveying crew. granted, they didn't crawl around with them, but we had broken chains, wheels that came off and some other problems.
Went with a couple of other brand rigs and didn't have a problem all year. I just feel when we lay out the kind of money we do for rigs to work and play with, we shouln't have to worry about them falling apart.

I've had two gators and only had one issue that was a direct result of me hitting something. Those two gators span the last 4+ years and I've got around 1100 hours gator time under my belt.
