Did you end up taking the KTAC insurance?

No, I did not. I was looking for a way to purchase an extention of the mechanical warranty. I checked into their policies and found that KTAC doesn't offer any type of mechanical or breakdown insurance. What they have to offer is basically a type of property insurance. I can purchase that in other ways, as an addition to my rural homeowner's insurance for instance. Or through an inland marine policy.

I didn't go with Kubota insurance either. My homeowners covers the tractor around the house and to get a marine policy it was $5 per $1000 of coverage. The only price I got for Kubota insurance covered everything, including the snow blower (something that's not going to leave my house so homeowners is fine) so the price was a lot higher than my insurance.

I thought my homeowners covered mine around the house...It sort of does. If the house burns down (and the tractor is in it), or a tree falls on it it's covered..If the tractor burns due to an on-board short, it's not. If I flip it over, it's not covered. Homeowners only covers natural disasters, fires and theft...Not much else.

My previous agent led me to believe that I was covered..After he retired, the new guy looked into it and found that I was out there with nothing. Bummer.

My homeowners covers it for homeowner type issues and transporting it for repair work, not commercial work or mechanical issues. The marine policy allows me full coverage even if I use it for a business. Plus I can set the value, I'll never have the loader on the tractor and the snow blower at the same time.

I'd double check that if I were you...In my case it isn't what I thought it was..I was more or less uninsured.

If you bought a inland marine policy, the issue is moot...This is an option with my insurer too...Just double the cost.

Response to First One - Your policy only list exceptions since your policy provides All Risk protection. Typical with some other policies, the insured may find out he/she isn't covered when he/she files a claim. This way, you know if it isn't listed as an exclusion you are protected.

Went with the KTAC insurance with the purchase of my new BX25 and, having just received my Certificate of Insurance, I was going to make the same observation - it basically tells you what's not covered, most of which is pretty straight forward - due to acts of war, terrorism, when used in illegal activities, etc.

It looks like the maximum coverage is basically the sales price, pre tax, but I'm not sure if KTAC pays depreciated value or replacement value for a covered total loss? Also, the Certificate shows a "Maximum Limit per Collateral Item" of $200,000. Not sure what that applies to in my case. Hopefully, I won't need to find out the hard way :D

Since you included KTAC in your KCC contract, you have the choice of either replacement cost (what you paid for the equipment) or a depreciated value. Look under the "Limit of Liability - Settlement Options" and you will see you can choose whichever you would like. Basically, buy another tractor and you will get what you paid for your old one minus the $250 deductible. Some restrictions apply so take a look at your policy... You don't need to worry about the $200,000 maximum (it's an insurance thing) since Kubota doesn't sell equipment over $200,000.
