In a large company one time I was pointed out as the kind of personality that you gave the project to and then got out of the way. The consultant who said this didn't refer to me as being manic. But they did have a familiar term that refers to a large body part usually in contact with a chair when one's sitting.

As for bipolar, I'm guilty. I've never been down but one of these days......... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif It's got to happen, right?

What is hilarious from my perspective is that as a society we pay more if the job demands seeing a larger picture. Someone handling widgits on an assembly line isn't paid as much as their boss who's not only supposed to be aware of what's happening in the widgit handling line but have an idea of what happens before and after the line.

The bigger the picture one is responsible for, the more they're paid.

I have a problem with that as is.

First thing is management is now just another job where the picture is very defined and limited not unlike at all the person handling the widgit.

And I suspect management in most companies are like pieces of a jigsaw puzzle with no one having a vision beyond their reach.

It's so sad.

Work is what we're made to do. We spend more time doing work than we do anything else besides sleep. We are designed for work. All we have to do is think about how our bodies reward us when we do good work that means something. We can compare that with how we feel when we're not allowed to do good work.

No one seems to put that information into the mix when considering hiring or being hired.

I get to interact with all levels of society. Work for the powers that be, work with those who are considered at the bottom of the job scale.

One of the observations I've made is that employers want employees who can do a know nothing job. Then they're disappointed when their employees seem to be stupid.

Duh!

Another thing I've noticed is the person at the bottom invariably has power over those at the top when it comes to the quality and reputation of the product. It's just that neither party understands that. Especially those at the top.

I'll get off my high horse and go to work.

I'm the luckiest of men. I get to see each and every project through from start to finish.

No.

I'm not hiring.

Not because I wouldn't like to. But there's this thing, it's my way or the highway. It's a big old highway. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Does this mean that the next generation of people that come to TBN will not be as great as the present generation? /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Re: Is \"Pretty Good\" \"Good Enough\"?

I think it means that the next generations of TBNers will benefit from the wisdom of the older (and not so old) folks who have learned the value of honesty, integrity and doing the best job possible. Learning is often a result of a mistake or two or many - hopefully the same mistake only happens once.

Re: Is \"Pretty Good\" \"Good Enough\"?

Junkman, I'm not sure whether I am the tail end of the present generation or the vanguard of the next generation. I suspect I am just a bump in the road /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif. Either way, I am here for the primary purpose of learning from those who came before me. To try and avoid the mistakes others have made and for help in correcting the myriad of mistakes I will make myself. if all works out well then the next generation will always be better. For me the key is to remember I am ALWAYS learning.
