How is the CT any different than an avalanche other than an electric motor in one and not the other?

They all get half credit, being unibody construction, but the CT has vastly higher payload and towing capacities:

Payload:
CT: 2500 lb.
Avalanche: 1600 lb.
Ridgeline: 1500 lb.

Towing:
CT: 11,000 lb.
Avalanche: 8200 lb.
Ridgeline: 5000 lb.

Of course, towing depends on not using one of the early "detachable hitch" CT's, they had some serious problems with the original design.

Not exactly any surprise that range drops with increased load. The same happens on my ICE pickup truck.

I wouldn't want one if they were free...seriously!

Agreed, but for me that's all about the absolutely stupid cosmetics of the design, and concerns with their towing hitch safety. In most other regards, I find the idea of a BEV pickup truck at least a little attractive, especially WRT bad weather traction and performance.

Of course all of my heavy towing is very local, and I'm not living in Nevada or Wyoming, where one might need to drive 500 miles between stops.

If Tesla made a "normal" looking pickup with a solid hitch at a reasonable price, I'd at least give it a serious look. I'm not sure I'd assume any of the big 3 are anywhere near making an EV truck worth consideration today, but maybe that's my own biases showing through, I haven't seriously looked at any of them.

Never quite that bad, but I'm not towing 11k lb., either. I never tow real heavy over a long enough distance to get a great gauge on mileage, but I'd bet it's probably pulling around 8 mpg at 7k on the hitch, depending on how tall the load is (wind resistance). I have the larger tank they put in the Outdoorsman models, something like 36 gallons, so that still gives me pretty decent range.

I average 14 mpg unloaded, just running around our usual country roads, with my immature love of hard acceleration and loud exhaust.
