Box Scraper Is the Everything Attachments Extreme Heavy Duty worth the extra $$

Skip the BushHog/DirtDog ones and look at LandPride. I have found their stuff to be very high quality.

There is a member here who purchased an EA HD box blade and used it on a 60 HP Hydrostat (Kioti NX6010) and in short time was able to damage the ripper-shank area. EA was good about it and I believe they took it back. But I have a Frontier Box Blade (medium duty I would think)... And I've put hundreds of hours of use on it, with a 50's HP Hydrostat (pretty much same weight and power as that NX6010), and never bent anything. So I would be interested to know how EA has adjusted their design or build-process to fix that weakness.

NEVER HAD A EA BOX BLADE BUT VERY PLEASED WITH THERE GRAPPLE I HAVE FOUND WITH BLADES WEIGHT IS YOUR FRIEND I KNOW A BB HAS ITS ADVANTAGES BUT I PERSONALLY USE A LAND LEVELER

I don't even put a land leveler and a BB in the same category. Both are extremely good at what they are principally designed to do. :)

The shank holders on that particular one were defective and it was quickly corrected. We totally took care of the customer and there has not been a single problem with them since.

The good thing about it is....
When something like that happens, we do not have products scattered around on dealer's lots. We can instantly take care of it to prevent future occurrences.

To add, the wear on that box blade would not have occurred during normal use. The customer had the shanks down all the way and was ripping in frozen ground.
Still, it should not have happened, has not happened since, and will not happen again.

Brian is spot on as usual, Gannon is the way to go. Yes they're expensive but you won't have any issues.

I've not been a farmer myself, although I was raised working on my grandfather's farm. I did work in the large central repair shop of a major coal company where we repaired and rebuilt much of the mining equipment used in 4 different mines so I have been around equipment and believe me, Ive seen equipment that had been through the mill and back. I think the EA BB I was looking at is just about as good as any I have seen but now you guys have me thinking about the hydraulic rippers. That just about doubles the cost and stretches my equipment budget quite a bit. I can climb in and out of the cab a lot for $1500 bucks. But it would sure be nice to just reach over and pull the lever to lower or raise the rippers. Hmmmm. Decisions decisions.

If you're not in a big hurry, we'll be offering a Land Shark 84" and 96" hydraulic shank model in the near future. It is designed, but we're waiting on cutting edges and some other components.

A lot depends on your soil conditions. My ground is always wet and for all but about two weeks a year I can dig anywhere without rippers. If I lived in a dryer area like Brian I would have sprung for the hydraulic version no question. But for me it didn't make sense because for the money I saved and what little I actually need the rippers.

IIRC an additional $300 over the Gannon blade with hydraulic rippers got me the EA box blade with manual rippers, a Woods 96" land plane and TNT from Fit Rite. For my property it was a much better use of my cash.
