Hello, I have arthritis in my right foot and ankle from an injury in my younger years that can make it difficult for me to press the forward pedal on my x595. Removing the dampener / shock absorber from the forward pedal linkage makes it easier for me to press the forward pedal and causes less discomfort. Is there any reason why the dampener / schock absorber on the forward pedal linkage much be used? I would like to just leave it off if I can. The dampener does not seem to be broken or malfunctioning. Its just my darn ankle acting up on me. Thanks for the advice

If I am not mistaken the dampers were put on because without them it would be easy to pull a wheelie when mashed on the pedal. Loosing control would be possible. I am thinking like the older Deere models like the 140 and others.

As long as it returns to neutral, it should be OK. Dampers on my zero turn make steering less violent but I cant see it getting that violent with the HST pedal.. Just take it easy when going from F to R.

You shouldn't have any serious issues. The primary purpose of the shock is to dampen the pedal movement and slow down the pedals as they return to center to avoid sliding the tires and tearing up the grass. As long as you leave off the pedals gently you should be able to accomplish the same thing with your foot.
