No slow down here.

I treat the delivery driver as a good friend. I rely on him. We joke, and express cheer and good will. I give him ripe juicy peaches. He gives me plain white boxes and envelopes.

What a deal!

They should let Amazon deliver mail.
Jeff don't need no more moolah.
Do all USPS employees (delivery folk) still wear a uniform?
Only uniform I see here is on the rare occasion I go to the PO and the Postmaster is there.
Our Contract Carrier is required to have new vehicles with a certain square footage of cargo space.
My rural route carrier reminds me of the one in Funny Farm. I can hear her rusted out old whatever (can't even identify it, some kind of 80s four door sedan) coming over a mile away.

The career delivery % is down to less than 70% and rapidly decreasing Only career employees receive full benefits. Carriers are divided into 2 categories - city and rural carriers. They are governed under separate union contracts. All city carriers use postal vehicles and do not get paid an allowance. You can tell the city carriers because they wear a uniform. Rural carriers may or may not use postal vehicles, depending on their situation. If they use their own vehicles, they are paid allowances, based on the measured distance of their route. The USPS is currently having a difficult time retaining new carriers. In some areas, it is under 25% retention after their initial training.

Career jobs are down but mostly in support positions. Mainly in populated urban areas. Some estimate around 20% jobs are non-career. Rural delivery is still mostly career but there is a push for contract labor. For a comparison the automobile company I retired from is now 21% temporary workers. Another large percentage of building and equipment maintenance is now contracted to outside companies. We are becoming a nation of temporary workers.

Seems about the same to me, but all shippers have slowed a bit due to volume. One thing I noticed is a several day delay from when a seller claims 都hipped to when they actually get it in the hands of a shipper. I have 3 shipments from Thursday and Friday, and all three said shipped but only printed a label so far. The shippers (USPS, UPS, and FedEx in this case) will all get the packages on Monday. That痴 when I think the seller should consider it shipped. At this point it is only 菟ackaged?

Ain't that the truth! I buy quite a bit of stuff from eBay, and one of my pet peeves is exactly what you mentioned; a vendor marking an item "shipped" when in reality only the shipping label has been generated.

But having said that, I've noticed no delay at all in USPS shipping times.
