The ROPs on different tractors (even from same company) seem to vary a lot on height. the BX24 was very high but foldable. The other BX's with non folderable seem very short.

The B2330 is kind of in between. It would be really nice to just leave it at the 3/4 position. Then I don't have to keep putting it up and down and I'm more likely to always have it up.

Is it design to give protection when it's in the 3/4 position?

If not why do they have the different positions?

Also my BX24 had knobs you crank down in addition to the pins. I assume these were to minmize rattle. Their are threaded holes for knobs on the B2320 but no knobs. Did the dealer forget to give them to me?

Thanks

I can't answer your question about the 3/4 position but there have been other threads about B series owners not receiving their ROPS knobs. It seems they may come from the factory without them. If I was in your situation, I would give my dealer a call to have him give you a pair.

He didn't forget to give them to you. The BX24 ones fit on the new B's. I know because I bought some (see pic) :) I'm not sure about the 3/4 position but I think it's been discussed on these boards before.

I'd be interested in the answer to this question. I've already hit the top of my garage door with the ROPS on my B2620 in the full up position. If the ROPS worked at the 3/4 setting, I'd set it there, and never use the full up so as to avoid any future mishaps.

Just 2 cents...

That's putting a heck of a lot of faith in that locking pin. In the full upright position, almost all of the force would be borne by the box steel of the rops frame.. that is, unless you somehow flipped forward. In the 3/4 position so much of that force would be transferred to the pin.

Of course, I don't really know but I just can't believe that it's designed to work in any way except fully extended. Then again, it would be surprising that they included that hole if it was not functional. Seems like a liability.

Mee Too  I leave mine in 3/4 position unless I am working on my hill then I will extend them fully upright.

I'm not an engineer, and I have no association with Kubota, but here is my 2 cents.
Take a straight piece of copper tubing and ram it hard into a concrete floor and notice it
won't bend.
Then place a bend of 45 degrees or much less, say 75 degrees and do the same. It will crumple, as will you and your head in a rollover.
regards,
Steve

Now straighten the destroyed pipe and see how strong it is. That's not the right analogy. I think it's plenty strong. If you did ever flip it or roll it the force does not come directly from the top. And those pins will get put under plenty of stress even straight up. The bigger question is, is there enough height and forward enough to protect driver. The non foldable rops are shorter but still directly over driver.

Why is the 3/4 hole even there. I would think that it would encourage people to run the tractor that way, opening Kubota up to lawsuits (which, IMHO are ridiculous -- you shouldn't be able to sue the manufacturer for your own mis-use of their products, but the lawyers would argue that they enabled you to do so).

Sometimes the questions on here are truly funny.
I agree, the holes are probably a convenience feature that could potentially lead to a liability issue from someone thinking it was designed to work that way.
What does it say in the manual about using the rops?

Sorry, couldn't help it:eek:
