Is there a way to apply down pressure on a three point hitch

Thanks for the info. Never too old to learn. I still don't understand, however, if there was any adjustment for front-to-back tilt and, if not, how an implement such as a moldboard plow could be adjusted to run level front to back.

You adjusted the length of the lift arms to be square with the desired implement height, then on a plow you would adjust the rear in furrow wheel and many of them also had a wheel on the unplowed side to assist in keeping it level and square.
When we used the same tractor to plow with as we sprayed with which was set up like a cultivating tractor, or if we had put the sickle bar mower on it would take a couple of hours to get the wheel spacing right and couple of short furrows to get every thing setup correct.
Most of the geometry was set into the fast hitch implements, many of them had some fine adjustment points built into them

After studying the video closely I can see that the tilt adjustment for fore and aft is accomplished with the linkage coming off the right side of the tractor under the fuel tank.

The sideways tilt is accomplished with the linkage coming off the left side also extending to the rear. The results equate closely with that of today's Top-n-Tilt cylinders on the 3PH only with very complicated linkage(s).

The cylinder on the back obviously provides the lift for the 3PH as well as the down pressure. The video does a great job of showing these functions and just takes a little study to figure out what is happening but I still don't understand all the motions completely.

Sorta off-topic, but this reminds me I need to order a new 3pt tilt adjuster before summer, since I apparently didn't clip in the ratchet arm at some point and it got snagged and broke the casting...

I saw that in the video. I see by your later post, you did too.
