It's great that your wife feels comfortable, and I commend her.

For myself, I've seen first hand the "bad" people can do, and realize that although chances are very slim to none "that somthing may happen", there are "bad" people in this world who care not of thier actions or what may become of them if they carry "certain" actions upon other people.

I don't consider myself nor my wife "paranoid", but am now comfortable knowing that my wife knows how to handle herself in some "situations" that may arise if she were placed in those "situations".

Intersting on your "seat belt" comment. More than one occassion (sp?) I should have been killed for various reasons, was not. Don't mind if I meet my demise through God, I will however, do my best not to meet it at the hands of another man.

Probabally sounds more dramatic then really is. (carrying loaded weapon from room to room in ones own home). I certainly did not mean to imply that you folks were unbalanced or anything. Like I said I sit and watch the boob tube with a Ninja sword...... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Keep in mind, it's not litterally (sp?) picking up the shotgun and going (as I might of implied) from the living room to the dining room to the kitchen to the bedroom...

It's a matter of "knowing" where the gun is, "hearing" something and then making sure if the noise does not sound "natural" and knowing where to get the gun (and making sure that it is near by).

We have three floors.

Makes no sense for my wife to be in the bedroom and have the gun two floors underneath her.

To some people, even owning a gun is "unbalanced".

Matter of "perspective".

We had a rash of daytime invasion around here 5-6 years ago and they got my inlaws as well. As pieced together from those that got hit and those who were potentials this was how they did it. They knock on the door and if someone answered they made up a name of someone they were looking for and moved on when told they had the wrong place. With no answer the door they broke down or in the door and helped themselves much like you described. Guns = quick cash so preferred them over anything else.
End result some of the guns were recovered in pawn shops out of state and gun shows out of state so watching just local may not do it. Insurance covered the "shooters" but not the ones with memories.
I don't have a safe as I have insurance and have "shooters" not "collectors" The NRA has some coverage if you are a member by the way.
