Is this a Copperhead Snake?

Yep...shoot first and ask questions later.

Here in Texas, they are a threatened species (timber rattler) which means we're not supposed to kill or handle them at all. That being said with visitors, kids, and dogs around the place might have to cross that bridge when we get to it. We'll see.

here they stocked a bunch of rattlers in the mountains then made it aginist the law to kill them (yea right) said they would control the mice good thing what they don't know won't hurt them.

Here in NY, Rattlesnakes are a threatened species. If one crosses my path, he's really threatened.

Killed this at my back door, whatcha think? I don't like them that close. It was at least 6 ft.

Haven't been here for awhile.

I kill them in the chicken house sometimes. It was so dry here I think that one was coming to the water bucket for the dog to get some. Scared the bejesus out of me up by my patio door.

The buzzard hadn't got to it yet so I got a better pic that shows the rattles.

This snake was small about 18" or so.

Did you cut it open to see what it had for dinner? Sure is fat.

Yep, the first snake is definitely a timber rattlesnake. Looks like he just had dinner too!!

Most of them we see around here are 4-5 feet long. Scary looking things

This post reminds me of one of the reasons I'm glad I live in Maine the only state in the lower forty eight that has no poisionus snakes:thumbsup:
