I found this on ebay. Have not bid yet because it is a long ship distance. Is this a good model? If any TBN reader is also interested bid away!.

Looks in darn good shape.

If it was me I would first price out a new unit,also decide if I wanted 4 wheels or 2 wheels..I for one like the 2 wheels setup,for my land has slopes and tad rough in places.

I can't say how old it is,but I have a Woods two wheel finishmower and I agree on rough ground it does seem to cut better.

Well that one is a side discharge. Some people prefer side discharge to be able to use the chute as a leaf blower. Although the general concensus is that rear discharge is better. They blow the clippings out over a large area that helps avoid clumping and windrows. Also the is more directional as you can only mow up against objects in one direction.

In Landprides # designation system, the 25 stands for their medium duty units. They are built quite sturdy. This unit appears to have the solid tires, which are not bad. I prefer the pneaumatic tires as I mow some rough ground quite often. Also noticed that this mower does not have belt guards, this will not effect performance just a safety factor.

Price is excellant. Price for a new one should start around $1500. As for long distance, even if you paid double for shipping you will probably be ahead.

Hey fellas, thanks for the info. I learn something each time I log on. The only FM's I have seen with 2 wheels were MMM's. Had one on a Cub a number of years ago.......................chim

JD's only rear finish mowers offered for compacts are the 260 and 272. Both are side discharge and ride on 2 rear wheels set to the desired cutting height, plus the front rides on the 3ph arms. They have gauge wheels optional for the front, but they aren't intended to have the deck ride on them. JD's Frontier line now offers decks that float on 4 wheels.
My 272 worked very well, but i traded for a LP-FDR-25-84. Nice.

Just kidding, good luck with it, I'd email the seller and arrange payment upon pickup. (within 14 days or so) If it is not as good as it looked on the internet, I'd just say no deal and go home. Chances are it will be a very good unit. PS , don't bid now. wait until the last 5 minutes and go for it, but you have to be set up to bid ahead of time with credit card numbers etc. good luck, bw
