I see your point Schmism but like CHH's wife said if you have to wonder it's most likely a horse. Technically, 1/2 horse and 1/2 mule is impossible. Maybe 1/2 horse and 1/2 donkey which would make it a mule

When you mix 'em the "chromersomes" don't add up which is why mules can't reproduce.

I'm going to gamble on this little one being a horse. I've had both and the older I get the more worth I put in the mule. Guess it just depends on the one owning them.

Thanks to everyone for their opinions. It's ears do seem to be a little short for a mule, but they look a little large for a horse. But even some people have ears larger than others.

It also has some pretty stout legs for being a couple of days old, much larger than my quarter horses had at that age.

My wife insisted that this looks like a mule but I think that is just because she loves mules so much and would like to get another one.

As it gets a little older it will be much easier to tell but I just wasn't sure since I had never seen a newborn mule.

I have seen many horses a couple of days old but never saw a mule a couple of days old. Can you tell from the photos if this is a mule or a horse?

Is the potential daddy jack a mule or a donkey? Mules are sterile.
