well, for better or worse I bought it. Turns out to be a model 530, they say 66" wide, but the augers (there are 2) are 60" wide. It was a good deal and is in excellent shape, so I can always sell or trade if it doesn't work out. Used snowblowers are almost impossible to find around here.

Congrats I think you will do just fine with the 60" blower. If there is any advice I could offer it would be to check the fluid in the gear box, grease the drive chains, lub the u- joints and buy a bunch of shear bolts to have on hand. We live on a dirt road and have about 1200 feet to keep open and there hasn't been a single snow season that I didn't pick up a large rock and blow a bolt.

Fisher engineering (snowplow Mfg) had a saying on their plow blades
"Always plow with the storm" meaning, if we are getting a foot to 18" of snow maybe go out at 6' or 8" and clear the yard rather than waiting until the storm is over and trying to tackle 1&1/2 ft of wet heavy snow.

Agree with you there. the only time i havnt done that is when a freak 36" snowfall hit overnight when NONE was predicted

I try to go out 2 or 3 times during a big storm. This last freak october storm caught us all off guard with 27 inches overnight. That was no fun blowing. Heavy, wet and deep was a long slow process.
At least now I know my new to me tractor and blower will handle a big storm.

to the original poster....you should have used a different title for your post...something like "Does this blower make my tractors butt look big"

ha. happy turkey day

"Do these pants make me look fat"?
"No, your fat makes you look fat".
:p
