My new tractor was delivered for free. In fact, the dealer didn't receive a dime until we parked the tractor in the barn and I wrote the check.

Most places these days seem to charge for transport for warranty work. I've not needed anything for the two years I've owned my tractor... But I suspect they would want to bill for transport

Do you know how hard it is to find a “driver” with a good driving record that your insurance carrier will approve? Guess how much that person is “worth” in today’s market. A pick up and decent trailer costs ~ 80 G’s. Oh, you want a person with a good CDL too for larger equipment? ~ 125 G’s for a truck, 50ish for a used trailer. Don’t forget maintenance, repairs, fuel, def, tires…..Now, figure out how to make that all free for the customer. :ROFLMAO:

Cost me $100 each way for a tow to the dealer and back.
This was in 2021, 12 miles tow truck to my house 18 miles to dealer 6 miles back to his place, two trips or 72 total miles. I hate to think what it would cost today.

The original delivery to my house was free.

When I buy a tractor I make sure to write right on the sales contract who is responsible for hauling during warranty. There are no rules; it's part of the negotiations. Write it in by hand and both you and the dealer initial it. That way there isn't any question about it.

I didn’t think about that because I had a good relationship with them, I thought. My MF that I bought from them transport was never an issue. But relationships change over time and maybe next time I’m going to e more specific about the purchase deal and get everything that I want in WRITING.

Yes 👍. I negotiated (?) the first 50 service and hauling into the purchase of a new Kubota. I had the sales manager make a note of it on the invoice and sign. Good thing I did as there was a bit of confusion when the service time came around. Apparently I was the first, and maybe last, to do this.

My dealer recently increased their hauling fee from $1 to $2 per mile.
