That is a good point. If you are very intent towards your work, the ringing/vibrating phone could startle you causing bad things to happen.

The first time my first pager ever went off I was fishing. I was teasing a cutthroat trout by passing a rooster tail past his hideout under a bush along the bank. He was about to strike the lure when the pager went off. I had it set to vibrate. I about lost my pole, wet my pants, and fell in the creek all at the same time. I can only imagine what would have happened if I had my hands in a live panel at the time.

Voltage goes across things, Amperage goes through things.
I trouble shoot equipment at various voltages all the time. When I started in the trade they trained us to work live. We are now training people to work with the switch OFF.
The workers comp line now is if you get shocked at work it is no accident and you did it to your self because under no circumstances are you to work live. (Trained High voltage guys with arc-suits aside)

I helped a guy install a ceiling fan. He was in a hurry and had more balls than brains and decided to wire it in hot. He must have yelped 2 dozen times in the next hour! Some time savings:confused2:

I have yet to see a warning label on any of the 9 volt batteries I have licked. I am guessing that in 6 months and a couple billion in tax dollars, the USA will be a safer place. Maybe a better solution would be to make those cute licklicious batteries 10 volts.:laughing::laughing:

Hey Duffster, Ladia left his puter logged on again! I want to thank you all for your replies. I do love this man and I want to spend many more years together working on our place. I think he would like to at least, see his new shop completed...never mind our first grandchild being born this summer! You don't know this man but he is one of a kind...a good kind, mostly. He is known for cutting down neighbors trees with chainsaw in shorts and barefoot and welding in his sandals. Luckily, I am there to make sure he has a ride to the hospital Though, we haven't had to drive there...too fast, too often... Thanks again guys and gals? We women can wield a mean tool, too! Julie
