I went out today and got some pictures.
In the left picture I circled where the blade sticks out.
And in the right picture I drew a yellow line across the BH.

I put a page together of my house and surrounding neighborhood.
If anyone wants to see it go to this link:

Nothing should extend beyond the deck!! That's part of the reason for all that grass on top. If your brush hog is made like most, it has 3 blades. The center blade is nothing more than just a bar and then you have a cutting blade that bolts on each end (3 blades). The cutting blades are not fixed and must be allowed to spin on their mount bolt. They are swung out by centrifucal force. In any case, I think that someone may have put the wrong size cutting blades on your deck. Check with your local implement supply and they should be able to help with the right blade selection.

I'm having a hard time picturing this 3 blad concept here.

Most rotary cutters in the 5-6' range simply use a blade carrier and 2 swinging blades on the edges of the blade carrier. Some models have a stump jumper as the blade carrier. It's hard to use the wrong size blade as there may be side deck clearance problems. More than likely someone has cut the front of his deck back.. or removed some lip that may have held a guard.

On my 5' KK mower, the blade will come out perhaps a quarter inch past the front of the deck.. meaning that a hanging chain guard must be offset forward to use.. or there will be blade contact.

Some finish mowers use a fixed blade design.. and may emply 3 blades.. I'm just not sure I've ever seen a 3 blad rotary cutter. Got any pics of what you describe?
