I have a question in regards to the hydrostat trans on my 2615hst. When using the front loader and hitting a pile of rocks or dirt in mid spped range. Some times I dont get the loader to come up at the right time. When this happens the tractor wants to stall and i hear a grinding or ratcheting noise from the transmission then the tractor does stall. It allways starts right up and operates normal.JUst wondering if the noise is normal or am I damaging somthing. Not real up on how these hydrostat trans work inside.

Thanks Dar

Suggest you shift into low speed range before impacting somewhat immovable piles. BobG in VA

Grinding noises are not good. If you are trying to lift more than the loader is able, the relief valve will prevent it from lifting. If you are literally hitting the pile of dirt or rock, maybe a slower approach speed would be better. I would still investigate the grinding noise.

When you are using the pto and you push in the clutch you will hear a noise, kind of a grind or a ticking, and this is normal. Let me know if this is the same sound you get when stallingout.

Thanks for the replies. Its not like gear clash when shifting more like an overrunnung clutch. Could there be some kind of safty feature in the trans that will cause it to slip in these kind of cases.Im going to use the loader tommorw Ill try it in low and 4 wheel drive and see if I get the same noise.

That is what I was trying to get at. If you have ever had a rear PTO implement on your tractor and pushed in the clutch to stop it, the over running clutch will make quite a noise. I haven't had any of my customers ask about the noise when stalling out so I have no experience about this particular instance, but if it sounds about the same as the PTO overrunning clutch, it probably is normal. I would try it myself with one of the tractors on the lot, but a I just had a partial knee replacement and will be out of commission for a bit. Let us know what you find.
Also if you are working the tractor hard with the loader(trying to get full buckets) low range would be a better choice.

I have had my mower on my 2015 and when I push in the clutch to stop it makes a funny noise but when I disingage the mower it stops, but I cant stop the mower with out using the clutch. So this noise is the over running clutch what is that, Im new to tractors and am just learning. Should I worry about this noise. Is it normal.

Thanks Nancy

Nancy,
The sound you are hearing when you clutch to stop your mower is normal and nothing to worry about.
