Massey ferguson Model 65 gas
dealer has one for 6500 with 360 hrs. It has a mmm no fel. I need a new lawn mower & was wondering if this would be better than a ztr. I could always use rototiller to till the garden & stuff. Would I be better off with a zero turn or riding mower? I mow about 5 to 7 acres. Is 6500 a good price for this unit. Dealer says its about an 02 or 03. thanks Todd.

Good price!
But that tractor won't be as fast as a ZTR for cutting grass.
As far as the size of the mower, I'd reckon both are 60" units, but you could go for a larger 72" or maybe even an 84" rear mower.

The tractor would be more versatile and capable of other tasks. The ZTR is a dedicated mowing machine.

I have and use a B2400 and Roy called it spot on. The only thing is that I can bog down my 5' rear finishing mower, with mulching kit, in really tall grass but that is probably a function of the mulching kit which, incidently slows down mowing speed even more. On the yard it could easily run a 6' mower most of the time but a 7'would require slowing down even more in the thick stuff.

By the way, that price is pretty good.

Thanks guys, I know its faster on the ztr, but I dont know if I want a dedicated only mower. But then again the thought of getting done faster sounds good. I just wonder how much faster though? How comfortable is the tractor. If I get the tractor I'll use a 4' bush hog & a 5' tiller.

How reliable are they? Any problems known to this tractor?

Starter circuit- sometimes takes several tries to crank. My B2400 has done this for years and from what I've read, others have had this same issue. There is a thread where someone fixed this by installing an interposing relay (which happen to be a John Deere) on theirs. I've just gotten used to trying a few times before it actually cranks.
