Is this the right trailer for me?

Thanks for the info. What is the process for getting a medical card. I wonder why more people dont get them.

last i remember any cdl driver needs an active medical card to be employed. (state and federal employees are exempt.:confused2:) it is pretty much a physical given by a doctor with the pertaining form that the doctor goes over and fills out. then you get your card that is good for either 1 year or 2 years i think. it has been a long time since i needed one as i drive/operate for the state transportation dept and have not needed one in years. i have never heard of people getting them if they don't have a cdl, but that doesn't mean they don't.

Wow, what a mess.
I am re-thinking my trailer situation.
I was all ready to "spend $3000. into the local economy, but the "swamp of government regulation is sucking at my boots' to where it feels like it's not worth the trouble.

Anyway thanks all for the input.
I think I need to research under 10K trailer sizes a bit more. :confused2:

Not necessarily. I'm looking at the wording of the law: A vehicle towing a unit with a manufacturer's GVWR of more than 10,000 lbs. when the GCWR exceeds 26,000 lbs.
It appears that both conditions must exist for the CDL requirement to kick in. I'm betting you GCWR is 20,000 or less. From what I see, a 12,000 lbs trailer would be just fine, as long as the GCWR is under 26,000 lbs.

Any of you professional drivers/trailer dealers/lawyers can jump in any time, as I very well could be wrong, but I don't think so.

There is some good info here but lots of bad. 10K is not the magic number and a med card is only needed if you are doing it for hire with a 10K trailer.

Talk to your dealer but first figure out what your truck is rated to legally pull and then what the real weight of a tractor, loader, ect will weight.
