I bought this at an auction last weekend for use with a Farmall M I'm restoring. Now, on the "outside" (HA!) chance the Farmall is still in pieces and the weeds in the pastures need some attention, Could I use this with the 2210? The mower is a 6 ft pull behind. BTW, I used the 2210 FEL to get it off of a trailer. This puppy was all that 2210 wanted lifting it off. My gut tells me it is a foot or or so too big.

I'd give it a try. You don't need to go 'fast' and just weeds shouldn't require much hp, as long as you have enough to 'wind it up' to speed. That would, IMO, be the main limitation.

With the trailer type support, you won't have to carry the full weight, but just half of it on the drawbar. If it fits up to the PTO, I'd expect it to work. Let us know if you try it.

YES, it is too big. Rule of thumb is 5hp per foot on a rotary cutter. The 2210 is 23hp. Deere recommends a 4ft rotary cutter for the 2210.

Someone told me once that with the pull type you could get by with a little less tractor than you can with the 3pt hitch type, but I thought this might be a bit of a stretch.

The 4010 at 18.5 hp runs the same implements as the 2210. They're the same weight at about 1400 #. Think that's a big consideration in what you can put onto the back end, too, particularly if you're not on completely level land.

Forgot to mention. The 12 hp Gravelys could be bought with up to 50" decks on them. They're fine for grass. The bush hogs are 30". Many use 40" decks for mowing, too. On my 30" deck, I've very seldom bogged it.

horseman1 -I don't know what is under that thing but could you shorten blade(s) to ease the load?

You sir are a smart guy /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif. I had not thought of that. Since the blades under this thing are likely in really bad shape and I was going to fabricate my own anyway. You have provided an excellent solution! I'll make two sets, one for the 2210 and one for the Farmall. It will be a while before I get to this project, but its good to have a plan.

Brilliant! and Thanks

Kurt
