as my business grows im finding more and more jobs where i need just another set of hands or another truck to haul stuff with. i am not big enough to hire another guy and i dont want to take on a partner. i really like doing everything my way at my time. granted a dump trialer would haul more than a 1 ton dump, but i kinda need a 1 ton anyway so why not get a dump bed for it? if insurence is a big issue i guess i will cross that bridge when i get there, oh and not to start any big debates but since i will be buying used, it will defiantly be a gas burner 8.1.

I would check the insurance. I was shocked at how much it was going to cost. FOr basically liability on an old dump truck that I had bid on at an auction. I did not win the bid but thought I would check on the insurance for it anyway and then try again to get one.

workin' I thought you were talking 10 wheel dump truck. A 1 ton pickup with a dumping bed sounds like a decent plan, very versatile. I have a 1 ton dually diesel but it has a service body on it so the dump bed wasn't an option for me due to putting me way over the GVWR. For you, it sounds smart.

workin if you are using it for buisness that is a different category. Insurance then becomes a tax write off. Let me know how much you find out it is going to cost you.

WRONG!!!...They used to have a Front Brake Limiter, but that was before the physics of braking showed that this was plain stupid...in fact, any old Road Tractor that still had those switches...had them disabled by the trucking companies...

hi folks, I saw a WELL USED (some rust) 14 foot wood bottom trailer, double axles, no brakes, but with working lights, with a sturdy built frame for 1,450.00. The trailer wheels/tires had been replaaced with wheels and tires off of a buick car. (??) so car tires, not light truck tires. I need to haul 5,000 pounds of tractor, and a thousand pounds of implement. I told the guy there was no way I would pay new price for a well used trailer. it still had some black paint from the factory on the sides...I am thinking about offering him 300 bucks, and sorry no pics, but just wanted to get some ideas about value.Can anyone help? he said he had hauled cars with it.

My HD car hauler type trailer is 18' 3" on deck. It is just barely long enough to put the 40HP Kubota L-4610 on it with the FEL and brush hog attached. The bucket overlaps in front and the brush hog hangs way over in back. This is the shortest trailer that could do it. I have never had a trailer experience EVER that indicated I had too much trailer and was too well equipped or hauling was too safe.
