I have been hearing rumors that in Pennsylvania farmers have to fill out a pretrip inspection form on their tractors each morning and have to log their hours of operation. I was also told that they are limited to 10 hour shifts almost like a truck driver. I can't really believe that would be right but I have had 2 people tell me that they saw it on RFD TV.

I am going out on a limb here,I am not a full time farmer,But I have never heard of this. Sounds like someone got Tractor trailer drivers mixed up with farmers. I could also find nothing on goggle. I am also a member of the Pennsylvania farm Bureau,and unless I missed it I never read about it in my news letters. If I am wrong someone please correct me,but as of now I would say it is bogus.

Supposedly the farm bureau just found out about it 2 weeks ago. This means the way I read it,you go on the road you better have a log. anyone under 18 will be restricted to run over 17,000 pounds even across the road to the next field. This is a total bunch of crap,looks like it may spread to other states if passed.

Yep, totally ridiculous and unrealistic, not to mention costly for the farmers. The few farms left around here are barely holding on as it is, and this certainly will cause more headaches for them. I wonder how strongly enforced these laws are in the other 30 states where they are already in place?

I don't see it as being any different than the EPA last year trying to regulate and tax cattle farmers on the amount of methane comming out of the south end of a north bound cow. EPA 'Cow Tax' Could Charge $175 per Dairy Cow to Curb Greenhouse Gases
