Ok I am here in KS and our local Bobcat Dealer does not sell the tractors. I am wanting to get into a CT225 and was quoted a price of $10700 w/FEL +taxes etc. putting it roughly in the $11600 range.

Now I went back and wanted the bobtach for the $10700 price and maybe knock off a few extra bucks too. Basically putting it around $9800 or so. Am I lowballing here? I don't want to be.
Thanks!

Maybe you can get the CT220 for that.... Im kinda in the same boat here... I am looking for a compact as well..... the Used ones are so darn expensive that a person might as well buy a new one for a few hundred to a thousand more..... then you have one that you know that was taken care of and not neglected! These prices are just NUTZ!! heck a guy can buy a full size tractor for half the cost and they are 2 times the size and the darn things are made in korea and japan and in china!!!! where the wages are super low !!! SOOOOO WHO IS MAKING ALL THE $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ ????????

Just stop and think about that!!

Hey, Steelio
Lowballing a good thing when you're buying! Hang in there and get the Bob - tach throwed in the deal. Why you're at it, also tell the man you want your rear tires loaded for the same price. Or that is, if you're getting a loader.

And also, why not try for a free tooth bar for your bucket. Who knows, you may get a few of these throwed in, or you may get'em all? Noth'in wrong with trying. All they can say is; No! Then simply tell him you're looking at another dealer, who's giving you two of these in the deal. He might throw'em all in there before you walk away? Or he may call you back later, to talk about it. If he calls back, he giving in.

Thanks. Yeah right now all the dealerships I am talking to dont have 1 in stock. So they would be ordering it as stock then selling. My reasoning is heck if your makeing money and have nothing in it why not? Would you rather make $1000 or nothing? I am proposing making $500 instead of $1000.
And really at the end of the day $500 is still better than nothing.

But the dealers are not seeing it the same. Told them its all about the $$ for me. If I can't get what I want at the price I want. I will wait....and their answer is you wont see a better deal like this again ever...I said these will be for sale used someday...then I will get it. Or I will get that other tractor that is used when I need one.

Make'em squeal! Tell'em you're talking to another dealer; or better yet talk to another dealer. Take a look at Dflek's post. I think he bought the same tractor you're looking at for $9700, or something in that range.

Thanks Punk. Yeah seen that. I believe his was the 230 not the 225.
Don't know the details a whole lot on that 230. Maybe it had been sitting a while. Maybe bobcat told the dealer just get rid of it. Don't know.

But what I do know is if you have to order one anyway and you have someone you can make $$ on why not? I mean yeah its not a lot of $$ but heck its something.

I started out looking at the CT225 and was getting quotes on the 225 but many dealers didn't have one and were pushing the 230 or 235. The physical size of the 225 and 230 are exactly the same with the only difference being the increased HP. It's not alot but many dealers were pricing the 230 cheaper than the 225 because they had old stock that they wanted to move. Believe me all dealers were quoting left over 08's and none of them would tell me UNLESS I asked which I did with all of them. I asked the build data of the tractor and number of hours. There were a few that I passed on because they were over a year old. The one I purchased was under a year old with less than 2hrs on the meter. The overall condition was very good other than a few rust spots in the seams in a couple of areas. Nothing to really worry about. I felt VERY comfortable after talking to the guys at Bobcat of Erie and purchase the tractor sight unseen. It arrived and was exactly what they told me it was. Needless to say I was very happy with the tractor and cost from Bobcat of Erie. In addition, they were the best sales people I EVER delt with. PERIOD!!

The one suggestion I have with any new buyer is to search the internet for all the Bobcat dealers within a certain radius you'll willing to travel. Once you have the list send a mass EMAIL to all of them requesting a quote. You'll find that a few will respond and then start inquiring with them about the tractor. Remember, you have the upper hand as the consumer because you're the one with the money. They all are selling the same product so hammer them for the best possible deal. You'll find some may have old stock that they want to more quick and cheap.

I have read several times that it takes less than 20 man hours to put a tractor together. If US wages were $40 more per hour, it would only make $800 difference. That is the most. It could be 1/2 of that for some.

Well got it on order. $11k with the bobtach, seat, and GP tires. Not the best deal in the world, but I'm happy with it!
