Is Yanmar 1100 or 1300 good enough for 2 acres?

You don't need a over running clutch with a finish mower. There just isn't enough inertia there. If I push in the clutch with the mower running to change ranges, I really don't notice the tractor being carried forward by the mower.

Try a panic stop with the tractor turning 2400 rpms. Hit the clutch and the brakes at the same time. I use a overrun of all pto equipment except Tiller, posthole digger. (there may be others but I havent come across then yet) It is less than 50 bucks and makes me feel better.

After using a YM1700 and a 60" RFM and being pushed into the fence and and cleaning tree branches out of my ears, an over running clutch was my next purchase. A finish mower has some inertia to it, maybe not what a brush hog has but you can and will be pushed around.

Are your breaks good? I'm surprised your 1700 wouldn't have locked them up solid...

purchased one through Hoye's. I really appreciate all the different prospectives and real life adventures. For 60 bucks, I can sleep better at night knowing I will not play a Thelma and Louise cliff dive due to the tractor getting pushed around by not having the pto slip clutch.

A pto slip clutch won't help you much.. you maight be thinking ov an over running coupler ( clutch ).. ORC.. etc.

A slip clutch is a torque limiting device.. it protects the drivetrain.

An ORC is a one way ratcheting drive device... If implement speed is faster than tractor speed, the ORC ratchets/freewheels instead of transmitting the power back up the driveline..

If a tractor has a 2 stage clutch or independent PTO it does not need an over ride clutch as the PTO has nothing to do with driving the tractor wheels.
I have a YM1300 but can't remember if its IPTO or not.

I'm pretty sure the 1300 / 1100 is a single plate clutch, and tranny driven pto.
